Coming in at 22 tracks & 80 mins though, it’s better suited for a longer ride out of town. ⁣⁣

𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴 showcases the Manchester natives Paying homage to their roots while at their most experimental, fusing together an eclectic catalogue of sounds and ideas that just work in only a way the 1975 could. Ranging from the 𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘦𝘺-𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘩𝘯𝘰 vibe on “shiny collarbone” to the saxophone solos throughout, the 1975’s drummer/producer George Daniel is at his best, harmonizing a deep variety of melodies to fit in an edgey yet intricate way. As one expects from the British stars, the record’s creativity is paralleled with a deep political message. The first track “the 1975” is a constant theme on their albums, used as an intro and to set the tone of the respective album. 𝘕𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘴 features a startling speech from Greta Thunberg over ambient music to start, keying in your interest as the projects content bounces from social injustice, heartbreaks and drug addictions. ⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣

Matty Healy told Pitchfork that his favourite moment on the record is “Having no Head”, which came about after discussing his passion for piano in ambient music with George. Alongside Cutty Ranks, Phoebe Bridges & FKA twigs, the project also features vocals from the lead singer’s father Tim Healey. NOACF was supposedly recorded in 16 different studios in 19 months, with it’s release date being pushed back a few months. The result; a polished contemporary experience like no other in the 1975’s discography. ⁣⁣
